Urs Fischer and Bea in Berbak National Park
Urs
Fischer and Bea, are a couple of Swiss travelling often especially around
the Indonesian archipelago. It was something coincidence by the way
they found us, as our eyecatching poster well hung at the lobby of Hotel
Novotel Jambi had lead them to the assistance of the marketing officer
of the hotel to contact us thus booked a one day package to Berbak National
Park.
It
was just a one day trip, but Fischer and Bea had been really impressed
on how river society mixed with green canopy of wetland floras, typical
endemict birdlife, and luckily one single apperance of the endangered
species of the wild duck namely cairina scutulata which fly pass
our boat during our way back from the Berbak National Park.
Dudung
, as the current Guide of Jambiexplorer for Berbak Area are on the head
of our gear.
The
trip was started early in the morning at the local port of Batanghari
River, boarding into a wooden speed boat, machined by a 40 PK, and headed
straight to Berbak National Park on the eastern part of the Capital
of Jambi. Having some interest arisen above the typical river community,
we decided to take a 30 minutes stop on the ancient site of where the
7th century malay kingdom , name Muaro Jambi .
It
was not only the temple that inspired us, but also the ornaments, and
some broken statue which kept in a museum on site. The best thing was
at least Fischer and Bea found something as exotic as other places in
Sumatra they had been to, like Aceh and West Sumatra.
Jambi
have offered them a very breathtaking scenario of a hideaway journey
into the deep green canopy of the largest wetland ecosystem in Southeast
Asia as well as travelling back the would-be Malay Kingdom in Sumatra.
We
had collected some photographs during the trip, and we proudly welcome
you our dear Guests, to feel the relaxing and adventurous paddle of
our unforgettable trip to Berbak National Park
