Timo Weismeier and Marieke Bakker in Kerinci Seblat National Park

Above , Timo Weismeier and Marieke Bakker at the Mount Tujuh Crater Lake, locates in the heart of Kerinci Seblat National Park, which is also the highest lake in Southeast Asia staying deeply blue at 2200 meters above sea level.

Timo and Marie, by their first visit to Indonesia last August 2002, chose to take out our tiger package in Kerinci, and along with us explored the green slope of Mount Tujuh volcanic suite. The main objection is to have an eye contact with the endangered Sumatran Tiger ( panthera tigris sumatrae ), as well as enjoying the year-long green paradise of Sumatran climates.

Below, the sparkling water of Sangir River sourced from the Lake Mount Tujuh, at the further background of the photo. Trekking up normally take 3-4 hours, depend on your target and , surely, physical fitness.

Basically , Timo is an advisor working in one of world's largest finance company in Netherland, while Marie is a dentist. Having guiding him for several days, I found out that Timo had been monitoring the conservation of Sumatran Tiger, as well as Marie, which one of her family is deeply involved in Siberian Tiger Conservation Project up in the Siberia.

The main program was set up at mountain reserve, where research was once taken following common occurence of residence tiger near by the Pasir Putih Ridge / White Sand Ridge. Attached to the program was to meet Debbie Martyr, the former Orang Pendek Project Coordinator, now the current Project Coordinator of Tiger Project in Kerinci Seblat National Park. She had a long brief explanation about both the wallking cryptozoological myth of Orang Pendek and Sumatran Tiger conservation project. Timo really loved the Orang Pendek gypsumed footprint of the Orang Pendek at The Park office though.

Last day was spent at the Office of the Kerinci Seblat National Park, having a perfectly directed slide show by the National Park Database officer,Mr Rudijanta, continue with some discussion with key player in the Indonesian conservation.

To our dearest guests, here we upload some of the photographs we had collected during the trips and take a sharp decision on visiting the most complex and biologically diversed national park of Indonesia.
